At a time when social media has been flooded with reports of police brutality and the deaths of black men and women (yes, #blacklivesmatter), Lemonade was a refreshing testament to the richly complex power of black women.
Shoutout to Frank Ocean and Solange, who also came out with brilliant and powerful albums this year.
