Its My Birthday Month

It’s My Birthday Month:

in Real Talk

It’s Sagittarius And Capricorn season. But the concern is, how do I go about celebrating my special day during a worldwide pandemic? With social distancing in order an this plague is spreading, there’s still ways to celebrate. We all understand that we still need to be safe.

But also there’s still ways to go about having a great time. There’s still businesses that are open to cater to those who just want to have a little fun an let loose. Here’s A few ideas from, Seen Magazine:

Host a Virtual Game Night

Party games are a great way to keep things moving at a social gathering, and they work at virtual gatherings, too! Adult card games like For The Girls can easily be read over video chat and websites including playingcards.io and allbad.cards offer online adaptions of fan favorites like Cards Against Humanity and more. Other multiplayer web games like The Jackbox Party Pack can be played through Zoom by sharing your screen and having everyone join via their phones. Gather your friends for a video call and let the games begin!

Plan a Drive-by Parade

Even though we can’t see our loved ones up close and personal right now, you can still get a glimpse of them while maintaining your distance. Pick a date and time and invite all of your closest friends and family to line up and drive past the birthday girl/boy’s house. Bring balloons and fun signs and don’t be afraid to honk that horn.

Have a Conference Call with Cocktails

For those 21 and up, drinks are often a birthday-celebration staple. While bars and restaurants are closed for the time being, you can easily become your own bartender for the evening. Raid your liquor cabinet and mix up your go-to drink or use websites like makemeacocktail.com to try something new. Once you’ve got your beverage in hand, arrange a video call and enjoy drinks with friends virtually.

Add a Theme

While a digital get-together may not be able to replace your usual celebration, adding a theme can spice things up. Pick a fun theme (think “red carpet” or Wild West) and invite your family friends to dress up and join in on the fun via Zoom. Too complex? Simply have everyone dress in the same color or wear pajamas!

Have a Virtual Movie Night

While some might prefer a birthday trip to the movies, closed theaters equal at-home movie nights. Thanks to browser extensions such as Scener and Netflix Party you can now sync up movies and TV shows with friends online! Download one of the free extensions and send a link out to friends to enjoy a movie night together from the comfort of your own couch.

Order Take-out

You can’t go to your favorite restaurant for your birthday, but it can come to you. Arrange for you and your closest friends to order takeout from the same restaurant for an at-home dining experience. Once everyone receives their food, hop on a video call for a virtual dinner party. And don’t forget to order dessert because what’s a birthday without a little cake and ice cream?

Go All Out with Decorations

If you’re quarantining with someone who has an upcoming birthday, surprise them by decorating your space with balloons, streamers and signs. Pick up supplies curbside at Party City or browse your local superstore or market for available decorations. It’s a simple way to make someone’s birthday extra special during a time when we need all the celebrations we can get.

DECK THE HOUSE OUT

From, Flawlessworld.Blog she shares her experience, “My twenty-fourth birthday is one of my favorites of all-time. My boyfriend surprised me the morning of by turning our living room into a Flawless World wonderland. He got balloons in various shades of pink and put them everywhere, along with a unicorn one and the number 24; put pink wrapping paper over our coffee table and turned it into a beautiful gift display, and just completely surprised me. He didn’t tell me he was going to be doing any of that, I had absolutely no idea; it was obvious he’d put in a lot of planning and effort to do all of it. (He spent two hours the eve of my birthday setting it all up.) Something so simple turned into something so special that I’ll remember forever.

If you’re unsure of what to do, try getting balloons in the shade of the celebrants favorite color and deck the house out for them. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy! It’s simple, thoughtful, and effective. It makes the day more festive.”

BRING FAVORITE FOOD TO YOU

During times of celebrations, we usually have special food that we normally don’t have everyday. Instead of stressing and trying to go out to a restaurant, try bringing the food to you. You can do this one of two ways: 1) you can try to make the celebrants favorite food yourself; or, 2) you can get takeout and, quite literally, bring the favorite food to you. For my boyfriends birthday, I decided to make a cheese board for him to his liking since we weren’t able to go to our favorite restaurant and get one. He loved it, and I think the fact that I took the time planning and arranging it all made him feel special. We sat, drank, and chatted like we’d normally do when we go out.

INTIMATE (SURPRISE) PARTY

Make the day more intimate by celebrating with the closest people. You can either plan it out ahead of time or try to arrange a surprise. Either way, it’ll make the day feel more normal and also be memorable.

DIY BAR CART

For everyone 21+.

If you can’t go out to a bar, bring the bar to you! Try making a mini bar/bar cart with an array of the birthday celebrants favorite liquor. If you really want to get fancy, try concocting fun drinks geared for the birthday and create a menu with them! Here are some mixed drink ideas, the ones with a star next to them are my favorites:
